Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Travel and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH), which rose 3.49% or 0.20 points to trade at 5.93 at the close. Intralot (AT:INLr) added 3.27% or 0.04 points to end at 1.20 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was up 3.21% or 0.05 points to 1.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gr Sarantis SA (AT:SRSr), which lost 2.68% or 0.30 points to trade at 10.90 in late trade. Quality and Reliability SA (AT:QUAr) declined 1.30% or 0.02 points to end at 1.21 and Biokarpet Industrial and Commercial Enterprises SA (AT:ALBr) shed 1.21% or 0.03 points to 2.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 89 to 33 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.72% or 40.05 to $2,373.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.27% or 0.22 to hit $82.59 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.20 to trade at $86.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 104.83.
