Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Resources and Food sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 1.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Karatzi (AT:KRTr), which rose 7.14% or 0.500 points to trade at 7.500 at the close. Loulis Mills (AT:LOUr) added 3.77% or 0.08 points to end at 2.20 and Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) was up 3.41% or 0.070 points to 2.120 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intracom Constructions Technical and Steel Constructions SA (AT:INCr), which lost 2.29% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.280 in late trade. ThesKi Port (AT:OLTr) declined 1.98% or 0.50 points to end at 24.70 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 1.93% or 0.009 points to 0.431.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 81 to 35 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.09% or 1.10 to $1226.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $67.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $72.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1646, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.8918.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.85.
