Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which rose 5.67% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.490 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 5.19% or 0.148 points to end at 3.000 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 4.62% or 0.012 points to 0.272 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr), which lost 4.39% or 0.100 points to trade at 2.180 in late trade. K.L.M. (AT:KLUr) declined 4.23% or 0.030 points to end at 0.680 and Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR) shed 2.90% or 0.400 points to 13.400.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 67 to 37 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.30 to $1301.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.21% or 0.14 to hit $66.50 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.60 to trade at $76.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1776, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8806.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 93.64.
