Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Retail, Utilities and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were European Reliance General Insurance Co SA (AT:EREr), which rose 4.09% or 0.140 points to trade at 3.560 at the close. Reds (AT:CAMr) added 2.44% or 0.020 points to end at 0.860 and Athens Water (AT:EYDr) was up 2.19% or 0.12 points to 5.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which lost 2.56% or 0.003 points to trade at 0.099 in late trade. Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) declined 2.24% or 0.050 points to end at 2.180 and Intracom Constructions Technical and Steel Constructions SA (AT:INCr) shed 1.57% or 0.020 points to 1.250.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 39 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.17% or 2.10 to $1219.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.32% or 0.22 to hit $69.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.70 to trade at $74.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1595, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8950.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 94.96.
