Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Basic Resources and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.52% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index lost 0.71%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 7.89% or 0.825 points to trade at 11.285 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 3.82% or 0.480 points to end at 13.030 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 2.04% or 0.121 points to 6.053 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 1.37% or 0.530 points to trade at 38.140 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 1.13% or 0.980 points to end at 85.440 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 1.05% or 0.170 points to 15.955.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (DE:RAAd) which rose 5.18% to 474.300, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 4.54% to settle at 40.170 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which gained 2.13% to close at 18.195.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 20.24% to 37.900 in late trade, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which lost 2.33% to settle at 53.230 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 1.65% to 55.97 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 3.48% to 23.490, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was up 2.35% to settle at 41.075 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 2.12% to close at 42.575.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.06% to 27.520 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 1.37% to settle at 9.651 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 1.35% to 17.185 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 458 to 417 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.56% to 16.91.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.95 to $1267.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.87% or 0.97 to hit $50.85 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.15% or 1.13 to trade at $51.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.0932, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8912.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 98.23.
