Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Insurance and Retail sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.19%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.18%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 1.87% or 1.330 points to trade at 72.520 at the close. Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) added 1.41% or 2.100 points to end at 151.300 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRK) was up 1.23% or 1.180 points to 97.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 3.80% or 0.445 points to trade at 11.255 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 1.99% or 0.128 points to end at 6.310 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 1.70% or 0.355 points to 20.470.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 2.71% to 36.38, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was up 2.28% to settle at 87.120 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which gained 1.68% to close at 26.915.
The worst performers were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 2.22% to 40.090 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which lost 1.95% to settle at 27.915 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 1.75% to 73.180 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which rose 2.73% to 6.253, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 1.91% to settle at 34.750 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 0.93% to close at 42.800.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.50% to 22.200 in late trade, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which lost 2.56% to settle at 189.950 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 2.30% to 52.660 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 428 to 407 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.54% to 19.05.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1318.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $43.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.14 to trade at $45.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1168, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8609.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 95.89.
