Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Media, Construction and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Transportation & Logistics and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.11%, while the MDAX index added 0.58%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG), which rose 5.72% or 11.750 points to trade at 217.000 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) added 2.19% or 0.505 points to end at 23.580 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 1.79% or 0.940 points to 53.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which lost 3.46% or 0.430 points to trade at 11.990 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) declined 2.58% or 0.825 points to end at 31.160 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) shed 1.28% or 1.180 points to 90.880.
The top performers on the MDAX were A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which rose 6.40% to 55.000, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:FPEG_p) which was up 3.84% to settle at 42.710 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which gained 3.27% to close at 113.750.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 2.23% to 78.010 in late trade, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which lost 1.24% to settle at 8.597 and GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which was down 0.94% to 37.855 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which rose 4.91% to 8.603, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 3.19% to settle at 10.500 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which gained 2.98% to close at 5.602.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 6.14% to 43.955 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which lost 1.50% to settle at 31.750 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was down 1.19% to 199.600 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 411 to 334 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.90% to 17.09 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.24% or 2.60 to $1092.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.95% or 0.88 to hit $46.05 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 0.56 to trade at $50.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.0956, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7019.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.53.
