Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Industrials, Basic Resources and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.08%, while the MDAX index fell 0.58%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 2.01% or 0.193 points to trade at 9.775 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 0.85% or 0.100 points to end at 11.870 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) was up 0.79% or 0.580 points to 74.140 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 2.16% or 0.260 points to trade at 11.800 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) declined 1.17% or 0.920 points to end at 78.040 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) shed 0.66% or 0.120 points to 18.010.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 0.94% to 36.345, LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was up 0.84% to settle at 67.000 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 0.74% to close at 13.010.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 9.16% to 15.280 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 2.03% to settle at 34.240 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which was down 2.00% to 32.135 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 9.79% to 34.325, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which was up 4.17% to settle at 24.980 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which gained 2.52% to close at 11.605.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was down 3.66% to 96.240 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which lost 1.94% to settle at 9.120 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was down 1.60% to 11.995 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 399 to 269 and 49 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.88% to 27.18.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.20 to $1107.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.79% or 0.80 to hit $43.83 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.09% or 1.51 to trade at $47.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1313, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.7336.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.41.
