Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Food & Beverages and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.79%, while the MDAX index fell 0.67%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 3.22% or 0.380 points to trade at 12.170 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) added 2.05% or 1.590 points to end at 79.190 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) was up 1.31% or 0.750 points to 57.940 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn), which lost 3.81% or 1.115 points to trade at 28.150 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) declined 2.56% or 3.500 points to end at 133.400 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG) shed 2.33% or 3.500 points to 146.800.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which rose 4.17% to 73.980, Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which was up 1.49% to settle at 25.935 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which gained 1.35% to close at 17.660.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 3.80% to 33.540 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which lost 2.99% to settle at 22.720 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 2.14% to 25.335 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which rose 3.89% to 104.100, Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which was up 2.78% to settle at 37.955 and Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which gained 2.56% to close at 43.405.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 5.28% to 2.134 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which lost 2.74% to settle at 3.795 and Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which was down 2.57% to 26.170 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 439 to 303 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.40% to 21.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.11% or 1.30 to $1187.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.78% or 0.45 to hit $57.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.14 to trade at $62.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.7139.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.36.
