Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Transportation & Logistics and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.37%, while the MDAX index added 0.12%, and the TecDAX index added 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which rose 1.50% or 1.290 points to trade at 87.270 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 1.17% or 0.440 points to end at 38.180 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was up 0.90% or 0.220 points to 24.585 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which lost 2.47% or 1.370 points to trade at 54.190 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 1.81% or 0.365 points to end at 19.775 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) shed 1.54% or 0.195 points to 12.440.
The top performers on the MDAX were Krones AG O.N. (XETRA:KRNG) which rose 4.46% to 104.400, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which was up 1.88% to settle at 60.050 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which gained 1.83% to close at 15.885.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was down 2.06% to 92.680 in late trade, DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which lost 1.62% to settle at 32.865 and RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) which was down 1.46% to 86.350 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 5.18% to 54.400, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was up 3.70% to settle at 5.319 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which gained 2.66% to close at 92.710.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 1.98% to 31.170 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which lost 1.62% to settle at 3.406 and Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 1.25% to 39.450 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 379 to 361 and 47 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.12% to 17.97 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.10% or 12.60 to $1131.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.79% or 0.40 to hit $50.51 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $56.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0847, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.6940.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 97.98.
