Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Construction sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Consumer & Cyclical and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.31%, while the MDAX index fell 0.04%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which rose 3.36% or 0.445 points to trade at 13.680 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 1.88% or 0.590 points to end at 31.970 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) was up 0.99% or 0.750 points to 76.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 2.03% or 4.700 points to trade at 227.300 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) declined 1.29% or 2.800 points to end at 214.700 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG) shed 1.09% or 0.890 points to 80.770.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 3.43% to 34.650, Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was up 3.21% to settle at 17.710 and GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which gained 2.84% to close at 44.915.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 2.68% to 40.460 in late trade, Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which lost 2.01% to settle at 62.124 and Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 1.76% to 68.760 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which rose 5.04% to 1.918, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was up 4.05% to settle at 6.810 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which gained 3.24% to close at 5.256.
The worst performers were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 2.59% to 45.935 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which lost 2.59% to settle at 98.870 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 1.83% to 13.700 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 437 to 306 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.92% to 21.16.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.68% or 8.10 to $1180.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.39% or 0.23 to hit $59.16 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.66 to trade at $65.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1142, while EUR/GBP fell 1.53% to 0.7141.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.17.
