Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Financial Services and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Food & Beverages and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.02%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.15%, and the TecDAX index added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 1.99% or 0.147 points to trade at 7.528 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 1.60% or 0.290 points to end at 18.420 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.10% or 1.600 points to 146.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which lost 3.89% or 3.510 points to trade at 86.740 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.00% or 0.235 points to end at 23.350 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) shed 0.74% or 0.750 points to 100.250.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which rose 5.49% to 71.280, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 3.88% to settle at 39.500 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which gained 3.44% to close at 40.105.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 1.33% to 38.720 in late trade, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which lost 1.30% to settle at 55.300 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 1.11% to 23.140 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which rose 5.54% to 52.670, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 2.42% to settle at 13.110 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 1.86% to close at 20.040.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 1.16% to 7.234 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 1.09% to settle at 45.170 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 0.84% to 27.270 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 413 to 342 and 20 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.52% to 14.16 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 0.75 to $1225.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.43% or 0.23 to hit $53.16 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.33 to trade at $55.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.0566, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8482.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 101.35.
