Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software, Transportation & Logistics and Construction sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Financial Services and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.02%, while the MDAX index added 0.02%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 4.29% or 0.323 points to trade at 7.844 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 0.96% or 1.400 points to end at 147.800 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 0.83% or 0.145 points to 17.705 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 1.76% or 0.55 points to trade at 30.45 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.62% or 0.390 points to end at 23.615 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) shed 0.92% or 1.050 points to 113.450.
The top performers on the MDAX were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which rose 4.14% to 14.70, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 3.27% to settle at 43.590 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 3.25% to close at 62.980.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 3.74% to 53.780 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 1.72% to settle at 23.435 and Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which was down 1.61% to 25.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 3.62% to 93.260, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was up 3.36% to settle at 16.780 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 3.19% to close at 44.285.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 2.94% to 46.000 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 2.24% to settle at 24.395 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 1.98% to 38.445 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 397 to 346 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.52% to 14.51 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 1.07% or 12.95 to $1199.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.61% or 0.31 to hit $51.39 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.32 to trade at $54.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0624, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.8628.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 101.45.
