Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.28%, while the MDAX index added 0.11%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which rose 5.57% or 12.30 points to trade at 233.20 at the close. Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn) added 2.55% or 4.32 points to end at 173.54 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) was up 1.90% or 1.80 points to 96.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which lost 2.92% or 14.30 points to trade at 475.80 in late trade. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) declined 2.65% or 5.90 points to end at 216.60 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) shed 2.50% or 3.55 points to 138.45.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 4.67% to 1.93, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was up 3.37% to settle at 101.30 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which gained 2.58% to close at 76.28.
The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 5.03% to 4.49 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 3.36% to settle at 8.48 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 2.57% to 22.75 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which rose 3.72% to 32.94, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which was up 3.23% to settle at 60.70 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 1.73% to close at 55.36.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 3.36% to 8.48 in late trade, Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which lost 2.73% to settle at 74.80 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 2.65% to 216.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 322 to 277 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.01% to 16.08.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.11% or 25.75 to $2,338.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.54% or 0.44 to hit $81.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.39 to trade at $84.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 105.54.
