Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Software and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Industrials, Construction and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.89%, while the MDAX index lost 0.93%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which rose 1.48% or 0.32 points to trade at 21.99 at the close. SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) added 1.26% or 2.26 points to end at 181.72 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) was up 1.19% or 0.64 points to 54.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG), which lost 9.51% or 14.16 points to trade at 134.70 in late trade. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) declined 5.72% or 9.55 points to end at 157.50 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) shed 3.50% or 8.00 points to 220.80.
The top performers on the MDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which rose 3.27% to 91.55, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 2.74% to settle at 8.82 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which gained 2.18% to close at 23.01.
The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 5.48% to 5.14 in late trade, Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which lost 3.93% to settle at 43.95 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 3.51% to 25.01 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which rose 7.19% to 48.88, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 3.27% to settle at 91.55 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 2.74% to close at 8.82.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 2.53% to 27.70 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 2.40% to settle at 219.40 and Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which was down 2.37% to 65.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 394 to 207 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.42% to 15.24.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.34% or 8.00 to $2,336.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.60% or 0.49 to hit $81.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.57 to trade at $84.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 105.34.
