Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverage, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Consumer & Cyclical and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.37% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index fell 0.03%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which rose 1.64% or 0.465 points to trade at 28.815 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 1.56% or 0.210 points to end at 13.680 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) was up 1.08% or 0.125 points to 11.690 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG), which lost 1.32% or 0.840 points to trade at 63.000 in late trade. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) declined 1.24% or 1.250 points to end at 99.250 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) shed 1.16% or 0.820 points to 69.970.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which rose 5.16% to 36.96, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was up 2.07% to settle at 10.075 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 1.83% to close at 13.320.
The worst performers were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was down 2.39% to 40.146 in late trade, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which lost 2.23% to settle at 44.420 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 1.75% to 55.110 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 4.51% to 13.090, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was up 3.84% to settle at 7.269 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 3.14% to close at 11.995.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 1.80% to 38.105 in late trade, Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which lost 1.02% to settle at 34.940 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 0.92% to 118.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 390 to 349 and 15 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 19.74.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.36% or 4.40 to $1231.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 0.20% or 0.11 to hit $53.78 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.23 to trade at $61.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1372, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.7402.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.33.
