Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.92% to hit a new 6-month low, while the MDAX index declined 1.92%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which rose 0.58% or 0.650 points to trade at 112.150 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGn) fell 0.56% or 0.170 points to end at 30.050 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) was down 0.64% or 1.050 points to 164.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which lost 5.15% or 4.110 points to trade at 75.680 in late trade. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) declined 5.12% or 2.270 points to end at 42.040 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) shed 4.43% or 2.940 points to 63.480.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 2.28% to 16.140, Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was up 0.70% to settle at 55.790 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which gained 0.29% to close at 15.600.
The worst performers were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 7.99% to 7.165 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 6.04% to settle at 59.070 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was down 5.60% to 47.390 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which rose 4.27% to 45.185, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 2.72% to settle at 30.575 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which gained 2.41% to close at 11.900.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 7.37% to 5.331 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which lost 5.64% to settle at 5.335 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 5.54% to 9.216 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 554 to 134 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.65% to 28.29.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.87% or 21.20 to $1152.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.58% or 0.26 to hit $44.74 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.39 to trade at $48.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.1250, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.7377.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.47% at 95.94.
