Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Retail and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.89% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index lost 1.91%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which rose 0.52% or 0.270 points to trade at 52.000 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) fell 0.87% or 0.230 points to end at 26.200 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG) was down 0.88% or 0.690 points to 77.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which lost 2.89% or 0.340 points to trade at 11.435 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) declined 2.87% or 2.090 points to end at 70.760 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) shed 2.60% or 0.740 points to 27.710.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which rose 0.94% to 24.255, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was up 0.79% to settle at 15.325 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which gained 0.37% to close at 36.205.
The worst performers were Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was down 5.55% to 26.23 in late trade, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which lost 4.93% to settle at 19.570 and Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 4.66% to 29.560 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 5.44% to 21.500, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 2.07% to settle at 47.000 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which gained 0.75% to close at 108.000.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 6.12% to 1.840 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which lost 4.28% to settle at 7.900 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 3.96% to 145.400 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 632 to 121 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 12.85% to 24.77 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.79% or 9.30 to $1188.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.51% or 0.31 to hit $60.09 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.54 to trade at $64.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1258, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7231.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.26.
