Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Chemicals and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.90%, while the MDAX index declined 0.63%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which rose 0.14% or 0.035 points to trade at 25.615 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) added 0.04% or 0.010 points to end at 25.070 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) was down 0.08% or 0.010 points to 11.910 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which lost 2.33% or 0.310 points to trade at 12.980 in late trade. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) declined 1.52% or 1.750 points to end at 113.050 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) shed 1.45% or 1.160 points to 78.990.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which rose 5.56% to 57.140, DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which was up 2.30% to settle at 31.100 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 1.44% to close at 11.275.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 2.45% to 71.330 in late trade, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which lost 2.32% to settle at 39.730 and Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which was down 1.96% to 61.080 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which rose 4.76% to 3.942, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was up 4.01% to settle at 40.700 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 2.94% to close at 127.900.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 3.24% to 286.250 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 2.82% to settle at 48.540 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 2.77% to 27.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 503 to 225 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.77% to 17.78.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.58% or 6.90 to $1192.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.18% or 1.65 to hit $53.56 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.16 to trade at $60.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.92% to 1.0664, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7217.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.82% at 98.92.
