Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.58% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index declined 0.17%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG), which rose 1.73% or 3.500 points to trade at 205.300 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) added 0.90% or 1.900 points to end at 212.650 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) was up 0.71% or 0.570 points to 80.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which lost 2.69% or 0.415 points to trade at 15.015 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) declined 2.52% or 0.720 points to end at 27.880 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) shed 2.38% or 0.275 points to 11.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which rose 2.25% to 13.200, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was up 1.78% to settle at 37.665 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which gained 1.60% to close at 46.980.
The worst performers were Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 1.19% to 30.665 in late trade, A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which lost 1.18% to settle at 47.625 and GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which was down 1.17% to 41.435 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which rose 2.63% to 65.280, Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was up 1.17% to settle at 20.740 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which gained 1.08% to close at 22.515.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was down 5.66% to 153.300 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which lost 5.55% to settle at 3.490 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 5.51% to 48.350 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 535 to 208 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 23.65.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.26% or 3.10 to $1176.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.94% or 1.71 to hit $59.85 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.12% or 1.96 to trade at $64.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.7338.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 95.17.
