Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.37%, while the MDAX index declined 0.03%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 4.44% or 1.645 points to trade at 38.665 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 0.83% or 1.350 points to end at 163.700 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 0.74% or 0.400 points to 54.520 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 2.91% or 0.590 points to trade at 19.705 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) declined 1.29% or 0.930 points to end at 71.340 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) shed 1.26% or 0.890 points to 69.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which rose 2.39% to 59.640, Krones AG O.N. (XETRA:KRNG) which was up 1.86% to settle at 97.450 and Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which gained 1.61% to close at 10.700.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 1.39% to 14.905 in late trade, Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which lost 1.19% to settle at 26.115 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which was down 1.16% to 30.305 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 3.10% to 8.774, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 1.59% to settle at 49.885 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 1.28% to close at 22.240.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 4.20% to 3.787 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 2.57% to settle at 20.850 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 1.75% to 1.793 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 434 to 273 and 65 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 27.09 a new 3-year high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.33% or 3.80 to $1167.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.41% or 1.37 to hit $55.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.76% or 1.72 to trade at $60.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1105, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.7128.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 96.18.
