Germany shares lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.35%

Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Media and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.35%, while the MDAX index declined 0.37%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.11%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 5.82% or 0.536 points to trade at 9.740 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) added 3.04% or 0.720 points to end at 24.405 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) was up 2.58% or 0.184 points to 7.316 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which lost 5.50% or 3.460 points to trade at 59.500 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) declined 4.13% or 4.100 points to end at 95.200 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) shed 2.67% or 1.890 points to 68.800.

The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which rose 1.91% to 74.200, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was up 1.84% to settle at 67.000 and GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which gained 1.61% to close at 32.145.

The worst performers were Axel Springer SE (XETRA:SPRGn) which was down 4.27% to 50.190 in late trade, Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which lost 2.93% to settle at 116.050 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was down 2.89% to 42.980 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 23.92% to 36.010, STRATEC Biomedical AG (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 5.73% to settle at 50.920 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which gained 3.21% to close at 103.000.

The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 3.89% to 232.000 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 3.31% to settle at 2.457 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 2.15% to 1.458 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 435 to 251 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 28.19.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1131.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.89% or 0.84 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 0.93 to trade at $48.27 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1245, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.7419.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.06.
