Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.27%, while the MDAX index lost 0.02%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 2.04% or 0.220 points to trade at 11.030 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 1.46% or 1.150 points to end at 79.940 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 1.08% or 0.230 points to 21.550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 1.93% or 2.450 points to trade at 124.650 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 1.25% or 0.195 points to end at 15.460 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRK) shed 1.14% or 1.140 points to 98.910.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 3.67% to 29.820, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 2.28% to settle at 56.150 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 2.23% to close at 36.74.
The worst performers were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 6.77% to 8.30 in late trade, Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which lost 3.85% to settle at 26.585 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 1.59% to 67.630 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which rose 4.90% to 40.700, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 3.78% to settle at 4.389 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 2.49% to close at 20.755.
The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 4.04% to 38.800 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which lost 3.31% to settle at 43.800 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 3.08% to 33.875 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 448 to 437 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.45 to $1349.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.98% or 0.86 to hit $44.35 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 0.73 to trade at $46.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1168, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.8644.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 95.64.
