Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, Retail and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 2.44% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index fell 2.23%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA), which rose 1.58% or 0.65 points to trade at 42.08 at the close. Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) added 1.17% or 0.76 points to end at 65.82 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 0.89% or 0.26 points to 29.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which lost 7.85% or 2.69 points to trade at 31.56 in late trade. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) declined 7.46% or 1.95 points to end at 24.18 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) shed 5.97% or 1.46 points to 22.98.
The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which rose 2.07% to 84.96, Fraport AG (ETR:FRAG) which was up 1.01% to settle at 45.96 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which gained 0.77% to close at 14.34.
The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 7.84% to 5.20 in late trade, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which lost 7.45% to settle at 19.38 and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was down 6.07% to 32.18 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which rose 1.58% to 42.08, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was up 0.67% to settle at 24.12 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which gained 0.27% to close at 14.68.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 10.08% to 53.50 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 5.54% to settle at 8.01 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 5.44% to 18.25 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 544 to 94 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 13.96% to 16.42 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.09% or 2.25 to $2,478.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.18% or 2.43 to hit $73.88 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.80% or 2.23 to trade at $77.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.07% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.03% at 103.13.
