Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Technology and Software sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.95%, while the MDAX index lost 0.94%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 3.31% or 7.30 points to trade at 227.60 at the close. Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) added 1.51% or 1.70 points to end at 114.60 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was up 1.47% or 2.25 points to 155.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which lost 8.32% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.38 in late trade. Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) declined 3.21% or 1.17 points to end at 35.28 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) shed 2.13% or 2.17 points to 99.88.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which rose 2.25% to 37.34, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 1.65% to settle at 20.94 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which gained 1.27% to close at 79.95.
The worst performers were Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which was down 5.66% to 70.00 in late trade, Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which lost 4.37% to settle at 29.55 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 4.29% to 87.05 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which rose 6.73% to 130.00, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was up 4.21% to settle at 24.78 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which gained 3.31% to close at 227.60.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 8.02% to 63.10 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 4.53% to settle at 31.60 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 4.29% to 87.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 411 to 210 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.65% to 13.79.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.63% or 15.05 to $2,422.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.95% or 0.73 to hit $77.69 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.77 to trade at $81.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 103.95.
