Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction, Insurance and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.75%, while the MDAX index lost 0.58%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 3.77% or 0.91 points to trade at 25.07 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) added 3.38% or 8.00 points to end at 244.60 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) was up 0.74% or 0.33 points to 44.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn), which lost 3.40% or 8.20 points to trade at 232.70 in late trade. Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) declined 3.26% or 15.20 points to end at 451.70 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) shed 1.76% or 1.22 points to 68.14.
The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 7.73% to 5.18, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.01% to settle at 18.50 and GEA Group AG (ETR:G1AG) which gained 2.55% to close at 40.26.
The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 6.10% to 21.10 in late trade, Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which lost 4.40% to settle at 71.75 and Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which was down 2.84% to 6.43 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 3.01% to 18.50, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 2.00% to settle at 9.20 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 1.50% to close at 41.96.
The worst performers were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which was down 2.26% to 44.98 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 2.19% to settle at 64.80 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 1.88% to 34.54 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 381 to 220 and 41 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.42% to 14.30.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 6.65 to $2,332.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.31% or 0.26 to hit $83.12 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $86.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 105.53.
