Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.45%, while the MDAX index declined 0.33%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which rose 2.06% or 0.56 points to trade at 27.53 at the close. Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) added 1.27% or 0.49 points to end at 39.17 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 1.27% or 0.40 points to 31.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which lost 6.47% or 2.11 points to trade at 30.48 in late trade. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) declined 4.96% or 24.60 points to end at 471.40 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) shed 3.30% or 0.85 points to 24.87.
The top performers on the MDAX were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which rose 7.48% to 76.15, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was up 2.54% to settle at 3.87 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which gained 2.39% to close at 5.83.
The worst performers were Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which was down 9.21% to 28.20 in late trade, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p) which lost 5.50% to settle at 37.10 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 3.83% to 5.67 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which rose 7.48% to 76.15, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was up 2.13% to settle at 40.30 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 1.52% to close at 32.08.
The worst performers were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was down 6.47% to 30.48 in late trade, Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which lost 5.65% to settle at 71.80 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 4.91% to 60.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 369 to 245 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.65% to 13.79.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.41% or 58.20 to $2,357.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.75% or 0.58 to hit $78.17 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.28 to trade at $81.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.37% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 104.00.
