Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.36%, while the MDAX index fell 0.46%, and the TecDAX index fell 2.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 1.94% or 0.46 points to trade at 24.21 at the close. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) added 1.10% or 0.96 points to end at 88.54 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) was up 0.49% or 0.31 points to 63.83 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which lost 14.15% or 34.50 points to trade at 209.40 in late trade. Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) declined 5.62% or 2.31 points to end at 38.80 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) shed 3.60% or 1.29 points to 34.69.
The top performers on the MDAX were Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which rose 2.75% to 31.44, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was up 2.53% to settle at 41.70 and GEA Group AG (ETR:G1AG) which gained 2.47% to close at 38.94.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 31.07% to 28.62 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 6.58% to settle at 19.08 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 3.94% to 26.84 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 1.24% to 34.34, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 0.55% to settle at 91.15 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 0.50% to close at 44.60.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 31.07% to 28.62 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 14.15% to settle at 209.40 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 6.58% to 19.08 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 387 to 222 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.61% to 16.83.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.07% or 1.65 to $2,345.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.10% or 0.08 to hit $80.63 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $85.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.82.
