Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 2.74%, while the MDAX index added 2.61%, and the TecDAX index added 2.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 7.72% or 0.805 points to trade at 11.235 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) added 5.21% or 1.240 points to end at 25.040 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was up 5.21% or 0.660 points to 13.335 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGn), which lost 24.66% or 7.645 points to trade at 23.355 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) added 1.11% or 2.150 points to end at 195.000 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) gained 1.26% or 1.160 points to 93.520.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which rose 6.73% to 35.150, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was up 6.73% to settle at 68.060 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which gained 6.11% to close at 14.150.
The worst performers were Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which was down 1.16% to 56.130 in late trade, Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which lost 0.44% to settle at 24.610 and Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was unchanged 0.00% to 6.813 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which rose 7.95% to 26.940, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 7.83% to settle at 36.080 and United Internet AG NA (XETRA:UTDI) which gained 4.52% to close at 47.035.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 2.15% to 5.232 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which lost 0.52% to settle at 28.850 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 0.28% to 9.394 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 578 to 107 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.50% to 25.66.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.29% or 3.30 to $1133.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.24% or 1.02 to hit $46.56 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.75% or 1.32 to trade at $49.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1181, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.7376.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 96.23.
