Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Financial Services and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.23%, while the MDAX index added 1.84%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which rose 4.88% or 10.850 points to trade at 233.200 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 3.91% or 1.150 points to end at 30.590 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 3.78% or 8.050 points to 220.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG), which lost 1.66% or 1.700 points to trade at 100.550 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 0.14% or 0.035 points to end at 25.610 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) gained 0.26% or 0.035 points to 13.725.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which rose 4.72% to 69.710, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which was up 4.45% to settle at 24.890 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which gained 3.82% to close at 108.800.
The worst performers were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 2.36% to 18.600 in late trade, Brenntag AG (XETRA:BNRGn) which lost 1.22% to settle at 56.500 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 0.80% to 8.210 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (XETRA:UTDI) which rose 7.92% to 44.570, BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was up 5.97% to settle at 289.500 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which gained 5.32% to close at 171.100.
The worst performers were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 1.83% to 11.295 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 1.80% to settle at 1.960 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 1.04% to 27.500 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 583 to 152 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.42% to 20.03 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.63% or 20.00 to $1207.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.09% or 1.86 to hit $58.38 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.86% or 1.90 to trade at $64.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.49% to 1.1146, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.7183.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.19% at 95.34.
