Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.29%, while the MDAX index gained 0.25%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which rose 3.33% or 1.820 points to trade at 56.400 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) added 3.08% or 6.650 points to end at 222.350 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) was up 2.88% or 0.460 points to 16.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 1.46% or 0.320 points to trade at 21.655 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 0.81% or 0.210 points to end at 25.645 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) shed 0.69% or 0.095 points to 13.690.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which rose 5.22% to 19.050, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was up 2.72% to settle at 34.800 and Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which gained 2.11% to close at 52.850.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was down 5.93% to 102.350 in late trade, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which lost 3.78% to settle at 8.276 and GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which was down 2.64% to 42.630 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 8.63% to 17.995, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 5.47% to settle at 6.150 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 2.89% to close at 154.800.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 2.21% to 36.255 in late trade, Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which lost 1.74% to settle at 65.680 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was down 1.56% to 11.050 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 458 to 269 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.29% to 20.74.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.05% or 0.60 to $1225.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.40% or 0.24 to hit $60.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.56 to trade at $66.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.95% to 1.1340, while EUR/GBP fell 0.60% to 0.7236.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.82% at 94.06.
