Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Telecoms and Software sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.99%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.68%, and the TecDAX index added 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG), which rose 2.64% or 4.050 points to trade at 157.300 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 1.99% or 0.335 points to end at 17.200 and Siemens AG NA (XETRA:SIEGn) was up 1.72% or 1.710 points to 100.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn), which lost 0.58% or 0.070 points to trade at 12.015 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) added 0.22% or 0.300 points to end at 134.650 and Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) gained 0.26% or 0.240 points to 91.020.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which rose 2.07% to 8.676, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was up 1.96% to settle at 81.060 and Brenntag AG (XETRA:BNRGn) which gained 1.94% to close at 55.760.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (XETRA:FRAG) which was down 1.07% to 57.090 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which lost 0.84% to settle at 14.125 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which was down 0.63% to 29.115 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which rose 5.24% to 3.855, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was up 4.40% to settle at 175.650 and Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which gained 4.12% to close at 81.410.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was down 2.87% to 86.760 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 2.24% to settle at 1.918 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 2.08% to 12.450 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 507 to 235 and 42 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.52% to 17.07.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.15% or 12.60 to $1106.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.89% or 0.83 to hit $44.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.92% or 1.44 to trade at $50.68 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.0998, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7064.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 97.36.
