Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.90%, while the MDAX index gained 0.73%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which rose 3.82% or 3.570 points to trade at 97.090 at the close. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) added 2.95% or 1.255 points to end at 43.815 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) was up 2.50% or 1.660 points to 68.090 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 1.87% or 0.210 points to trade at 11.025 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) declined 0.70% or 0.420 points to end at 59.400 and Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) shed 0.42% or 0.330 points to 79.080.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 5.05% to 35.695, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was up 3.07% to settle at 72.450 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which gained 2.38% to close at 35.985.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 1.28% to 56.370 in late trade, Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which lost 1.08% to settle at 15.615 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which was down 1.03% to 23.950 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 5.06% to 54.200, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was up 4.21% to settle at 78.400 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which gained 3.74% to close at 32.770.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 3.06% to 245.800 in late trade, Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which lost 2.87% to settle at 43.225 and Qiagen NV (XETRA:QGEN) which was down 2.12% to 23.120 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 496 to 186 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.68% to 23.69.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.86% or 9.80 to $1147.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.37% or 2.02 to hit $48.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 4.96% or 2.44 to trade at $51.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.1266, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.7400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.65% at 95.60.
