Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Insurance and Software sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.81%, while the MDAX index added 0.02%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG), which rose 1.75% or 2.450 points to trade at 142.100 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 1.57% or 2.900 points to end at 187.100 and SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG) was up 1.53% or 1.030 points to 68.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 2.45% or 0.79 points to trade at 31.52 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 1.01% or 0.125 points to end at 12.255 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 0.80% or 0.095 points to 11.780.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which rose 5.21% to 26.150, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was up 1.92% to settle at 50.55 and Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (DE:HNRGn) which gained 1.73% to close at 102.900.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 2.78% to 14.675 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which lost 2.32% to settle at 27.155 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 2.07% to 11.805 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 2.26% to 37.485, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 2.08% to settle at 46.100 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 1.61% to close at 9.740.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 1.88% to 9.900 in late trade, Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which lost 1.56% to settle at 35.035 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 1.13% to 33.615 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 506 to 351 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.36% to 21.30.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.14% or 1.70 to $1256.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.02% or 1.22 to hit $41.58 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.29% or 1.41 to trade at $44.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1387, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.7995.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.06.
