Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.54%, while the MDAX index added 0.49%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 2.08% or 0.565 points to trade at 27.765 at the close. Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) added 1.98% or 2.450 points to end at 126.500 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) was up 1.96% or 1.070 points to 55.690 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which lost 0.76% or 0.090 points to trade at 11.825 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 0.40% or 0.050 points to end at 12.390 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) shed 0.24% or 0.240 points to 98.350.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which rose 3.92% to 52.960, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was up 2.91% to settle at 20.140 and Krones AG O.N. (XETRA:KRNG) which gained 2.59% to close at 94.500.
The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which was down 1.70% to 11.245 in late trade, Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which lost 1.30% to settle at 29.175 and Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was down 0.89% to 45.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 7.02% to 6.590, Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was up 4.62% to settle at 3.624 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 3.72% to close at 157.500.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 2.06% to 29.670 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 1.63% to settle at 21.150 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 1.17% to 10.600 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 431 to 319 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 24.77 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.51% or 6.10 to $1179.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.80% or 0.48 to hit $60.48 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.18 to trade at $63.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1233, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.7182.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 95.32.
