Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Construction and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.53% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 0.58%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which rose 1.56% or 0.475 points to trade at 30.900 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) added 1.55% or 3.350 points to end at 218.850 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was up 1.34% or 0.330 points to 24.915 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which lost 0.84% or 0.730 points to trade at 86.540 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) declined 0.83% or 1.650 points to end at 198.350 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) shed 0.79% or 0.090 points to 11.275.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which rose 5.59% to 49.000, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which was up 2.58% to settle at 61.600 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which gained 2.37% to close at 39.570.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 1.62% to 15.815 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which lost 0.65% to settle at 23.655 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was down 0.50% to 92.220 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which rose 5.83% to 26.070, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was up 3.47% to settle at 3.612 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which gained 3.45% to close at 10.245.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.56% to 30.060 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which lost 3.18% to settle at 8.660 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 1.58% to 53.540 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 513 to 249 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.56% to 17.33 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 2.01% or 22.80 to $1109.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.05% or 0.54 to hit $50.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.43 to trade at $56.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.0853, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.6960.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.98.
