Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Utilities and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.36%, while the MDAX index added 0.28%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 3.13% or 0.365 points to trade at 12.020 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 2.41% or 3.950 points to end at 167.950 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 1.88% or 1.260 points to 68.320 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG), which lost 1.05% or 0.860 points to trade at 81.200 in late trade. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 0.70% or 0.450 points to end at 63.540 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) shed 0.60% or 0.480 points to 79.690.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 2.00% to 30.135, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was up 1.90% to settle at 44.040 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 1.77% to close at 35.84.
The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 2.46% to 33.12 in late trade, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which lost 2.38% to settle at 28.300 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 1.09% to 25.335 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which rose 3.56% to 3.780, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 3.03% to settle at 13.950 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 1.38% to close at 19.050.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 2.76% to 9.379 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 1.55% to settle at 6.045 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.42% to 22.870 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 439 to 405 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.88% to 20.31.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.40% or 4.80 to $1186.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.89% or 1.83 to hit $45.25 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.72% or 1.83 to trade at $47.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.0624, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 101.18.
