Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Media and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.23%, while the MDAX index added 0.82%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which rose 4.21% or 0.555 points to trade at 13.740 at the close. K+S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGn) added 3.29% or 0.780 points to end at 24.460 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) was up 2.04% or 1.460 points to 72.970 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN), which lost 1.80% or 2.050 points to trade at 112.000 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) declined 1.77% or 0.450 points to end at 25.030 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) shed 1.20% or 0.185 points to 15.260.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 6.11% to 38.020, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was up 5.40% to settle at 15.315 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which gained 3.83% to close at 19.240.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 4.03% to 15.700 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which lost 1.81% to settle at 56.500 and Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which was down 1.52% to 32.480 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 9.22% to 41.500, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was up 7.69% to settle at 5.786 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 4.45% to close at 8.726.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 3.04% to 51.310 in late trade, BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which lost 2.90% to settle at 234.300 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was down 1.31% to 184.850 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 399 to 280 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.09% to 22.51 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.47% or 5.40 to $1143.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.12% or 1.49 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.09% or 1.58 to trade at $52.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.7361.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 95.43.
