Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Technology and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.09%, while the MDAX index added 0.18%, and the TecDAX index added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn), which rose 1.20% or 1.50 points to trade at 126.00 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.17% or 0.215 points to end at 18.520 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 0.89% or 0.135 points to 15.335 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 1.72% or 0.375 points to trade at 21.470 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.35% or 0.46 points to end at 33.70 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) shed 0.70% or 0.215 points to 30.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which rose 3.44% to 72.181, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 2.09% to settle at 35.190 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which gained 1.81% to close at 47.565.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 3.96% to 38.645 in late trade, Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which lost 2.69% to settle at 15.200 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 2.26% to 94.82 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 3.42% to 3.750, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 2.08% to settle at 24.300 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 1.50% to close at 12.860.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 3.16% to 11.350 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.61% to settle at 41.925 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 1.13% to 52.620 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 381 to 363 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.67% to 21.31.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.26% or 3.40 to $1280.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.24% or 0.12 to hit $50.97 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.27 to trade at $53.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.0749, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8381.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 99.55.
