Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.05%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.81%, and the TecDAX index added 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG), which rose 1.96% or 1.790 points to trade at 93.010 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) added 1.21% or 0.310 points to end at 25.940 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.15% or 1.110 points to 97.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 2.28% or 0.305 points to trade at 13.050 in late trade. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 0.88% or 0.700 points to end at 78.860 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 0.76% or 0.510 points to 66.910.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which rose 4.83% to 56.440, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 4.12% to settle at 18.690 and Osram Licht (DE:OSRn) which gained 3.18% to close at 38.599.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) which was down 4.17% to 15.410 in late trade, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which lost 1.99% to settle at 14.010 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was down 1.66% to 51.050 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 4.41% to 10.530, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was up 3.80% to settle at 31.955 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 3.37% to close at 45.645.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 5.40% to 7.219 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 1.61% to settle at 210.450 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 1.31% to 36.960 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 377 to 320 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.29% to 21.99 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.37% or 4.00 to $1084.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.32% or 0.13 to hit $40.61 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.97% or 0.88 to trade at $43.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.0702, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.7038.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 99.38.
