Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.02%, while the MDAX index added 0.30%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 1.52% or 0.435 points to trade at 29.050 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) added 1.35% or 0.380 points to end at 28.465 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 1.25% or 2.700 points to 218.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 1.85% or 0.375 points to trade at 19.935 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 1.31% or 0.165 points to end at 12.460 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) shed 1.23% or 1.300 points to 104.100.
The top performers on the MDAX were RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) which rose 2.37% to 84.800, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was up 2.30% to settle at 26.21 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which gained 2.09% to close at 24.635.
The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was down 2.70% to 62.760 in late trade, Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which lost 1.69% to settle at 16.000 and Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 1.35% to 29.615 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 5.10% to 7.930, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was up 2.77% to settle at 32.260 and Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which gained 2.69% to close at 43.320.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 2.00% to 6.321 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which lost 1.79% to settle at 32.015 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 1.71% to 8.050 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 406 to 332 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.45% to 23.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1172.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.81% or 0.49 to hit $59.78 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.38 to trade at $63.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1196, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7118.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.44.
