Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software, Food & Beverages and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.38%, while the MDAX index gained 0.16%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were SAP SE (ETR:SAPG), which rose 3.61% or 6.20 points to trade at 177.72 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 3.14% or 0.47 points to end at 15.28 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 2.43% or 0.72 points to 30.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which lost 2.93% or 0.70 points to trade at 23.20 in late trade. Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) declined 1.94% or 0.57 points to end at 28.76 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) shed 1.87% or 0.90 points to 47.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which rose 6.19% to 96.90, Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which was up 2.67% to settle at 33.80 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 2.29% to close at 23.24.
The worst performers were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 6.39% to 2.08 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 3.54% to settle at 13.91 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was down 3.17% to 80.52 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which rose 6.19% to 96.90, SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) which was up 3.61% to settle at 177.72 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 2.29% to close at 23.24.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which was down 4.49% to 29.76 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 3.54% to settle at 13.91 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was down 2.23% to 17.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 330 to 296 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.90% to 13.63.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.70% or 16.60 to $2,392.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.01% or 1.49 to hit $75.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.85% or 1.45 to trade at $79.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.21.
