Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverage, Technology and Software sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.87% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.85%, and the TecDAX index added 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which rose 4.92% or 0.590 points to trade at 12.585 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) added 2.63% or 6.350 points to end at 247.750 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 2.61% or 5.750 points to 225.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn), which lost 1.67% or 0.230 points to trade at 13.535 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 1.11% or 0.265 points to end at 23.555 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 1.11% or 0.355 points to 31.515.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which rose 3.39% to 74.630, Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which was up 2.60% to settle at 63.620 and GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which gained 2.16% to close at 44.695.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 1.57% to 52.530 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which lost 1.43% to settle at 26.860 and Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which was down 1.20% to 39.03 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 2.96% to 127.000, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 2.78% to settle at 1.922 and BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which gained 2.44% to close at 327.800.
The worst performers were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 1.19% to 12.890 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which lost 0.98% to settle at 36.745 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was down 0.80% to 19.280 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 450 to 276 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.23% to 17.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.11% or 1.30 to $1153.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 3.72% or 1.75 to hit $45.30 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.22% or 1.26 to trade at $55.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.29% to 1.0498, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.7128.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.04% at 100.15.
