Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.60%, while the MDAX index added 1.26%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 3.30% or 0.920 points to trade at 28.815 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) added 2.66% or 0.266 points to end at 10.250 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 2.31% or 4.750 points to 210.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which lost 1.02% or 0.160 points to trade at 15.600 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 0.99% or 0.135 points to end at 13.440 and RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) shed 0.94% or 0.225 points to 23.810.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which rose 2.71% to 113.850, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was up 2.70% to settle at 45.415 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which gained 2.69% to close at 42.205.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 1.28% to 13.115 in late trade, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which lost 1.13% to settle at 6.835 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 0.66% to 54.210 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which rose 4.86% to 116.600, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was up 2.98% to settle at 81.610 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 2.84% to close at 18.130.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 1.39% to 38.010 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 0.95% to settle at 1.986 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 0.93% to 11.760 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 543 to 188 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.98% to 18.71.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.73% or 8.80 to $1199.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 2.78% or 1.51 to hit $52.78 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.50% or 1.56 to trade at $60.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1340, while EUR/GBP fell 1.06% to 0.7353.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 94.59.
