Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverage, Software and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.19% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.64%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which rose 2.16% or 2.200 points to trade at 104.100 at the close. Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) added 1.68% or 1.460 points to end at 88.440 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 1.30% or 2.700 points to 209.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 1.38% or 0.330 points to trade at 23.575 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 1.29% or 0.300 points to end at 22.990 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 1.22% or 0.345 points to 27.850.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which rose 3.20% to 124.100, Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (XETRA:DEQGn) which was up 2.95% to settle at 43.500 and Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which gained 2.71% to close at 83.730.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which was down 1.94% to 111.400 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which lost 1.89% to settle at 24.455 and Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 1.34% to 28.765 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which rose 9.73% to 5.749, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 7.50% to settle at 1.906 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 4.87% to close at 12.060.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 4.98% to 231.700 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 4.00% to settle at 44.000 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was down 0.77% to 12.235 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 457 to 276 and 17 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.75% to 19.67.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.29% or 3.70 to $1264.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 5.28% or 2.80 to hit $50.25 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 3.45% or 2.00 to trade at $55.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1409, while EUR/GBP fell 0.91% to 0.7501.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 94.24.
