FTSE 100 down at Market Open; GBP/USD touches 1.28; Indices re-shuffle

Investing.com - U.K. equities started with some loses on Friday, with falls in several sectors, the most notable ones being Financial Services, Industrial Engineering, and Chemicals sectors.

At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index fell slightly by 0.03%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index showed mixed results. The FTSE 250 dropped 0.16%, while the FTSE 350 increased by 0.04%.

Top Gainers:

  • ConvaTec (LON:CTEC) Group: Rose 1.20% or 3.00 to 253.40
  • Fresnillo (LON:FRES): Climbed 1.00% or 5.94 points to 598.94
  • National Grid (LON:NG): Increased 0.37% or 3.20 points to 867.20

Top Losers:

  • Intermediate Capital (LON:ICGIN): Dropped 1.47% or 34.00 points to 2,282.00
  • Anglo American (JO:AGLJ): Declined 1.16% or 28.0 points to 2,384.0
  • 3I Group (LON:III): Fell 0.58% or 17.00 points to 2,935.00

In Commodities Trading:

  • Gold Futures for August delivery rose 6.05 points to 2,396.95 a troy ounce.
  • Crude Oil for July delivery added 0.04 points to 75.59 a barrel.
  • August Brent Oil Contract increased 0.06% or 0.05 points to 79.92 a barrel.

On Thursday, 6th June, it was confirmed that three new components will enter the FTSE 100, and three will leave. Additionally, the FTSE 250 index will also see three components leaving and three new ones joining.
