Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.18%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 1.90% or 0.08 points to trade at 4.19 at the close. Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 0.77% or 0.33 points to end at 43.15 and Technip (PA:TECF) was up 0.76% or 0.35 points to 46.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which lost 2.78% or 3.90 points to trade at 136.40 in late trade. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) declined 1.30% or 0.22 points to end at 16.70 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 1.24% or 0.49 points to 38.91.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG (PA:GEPH) which rose 9.84% to 0.67, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 4.71% to settle at 3.27 and Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which gained 2.86% to close at 26.61.
The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications (PA:ETL) which was down 6.79% to 18.45 in late trade, Fonciere des Regions (PA:FDR) which lost 3.04% to settle at 79.70 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 2.78% to 136.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 343 to 307 and 89 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.99% to 22.35.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.31% or 3.95 to $1276.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.20% or 1.48 to hit $47.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.66% or 1.27 to trade at $49.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1332, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.7865.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 94.45.
