Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.35% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP), which rose 1.12% or 0.42 points to trade at 38.06 at the close. Renault SA (EPA:RENA) added 0.82% or 0.42 points to end at 51.64 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) was up 0.53% or 1.20 points to 228.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which lost 7.46% or 1.94 points to trade at 24.08 in late trade. Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF) declined 5.37% or 5.95 points to end at 104.80 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) shed 4.76% or 3.16 points to 63.21.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which rose 4.28% to 3.41, Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was up 3.82% to settle at 114.10 and Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which gained 3.70% to close at 3.30.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 8.82% to 12.51 in late trade, Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) which lost 7.46% to settle at 24.08 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 6.12% to 3.83 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 399 to 115 and 89 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.05% or 1.10 to $2,326.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.46% or 1.86 to hit $77.39 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.21% or 1.76 to trade at $81.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.45% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 104.81.
