Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.33% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which rose 1.17% or 0.17 points to trade at 14.76 at the close. Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) added 0.69% or 0.30 points to end at 43.70 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was up 0.34% or 0.20 points to 59.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which lost 5.02% or 1.21 points to trade at 22.87 in late trade. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) declined 4.10% or 3.22 points to end at 75.30 and Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR) shed 3.90% or 0.55 points to 13.57.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 3.51% to 3.77, Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which was up 3.12% to settle at 84.30 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which gained 2.29% to close at 189.70.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 15.11% to 0.97 in late trade, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which lost 7.20% to settle at 3.07 and Television Francaise 1 SA (EPA:TFFP) which was down 6.95% to 8.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 401 to 126 and 81 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.06% or 1.45 to $2,328.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.49% or 0.38 to hit $78.12 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.48 to trade at $82.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.96.
