Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.37%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 2.16% or 0.52 points to trade at 24.54 at the close. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) added 1.66% or 0.35 points to end at 21.40 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was up 1.02% or 0.120 points to 11.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which lost 2.63% or 0.505 points to trade at 18.670 in late trade. Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) declined 2.51% or 2.80 points to end at 108.70 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 2.47% or 0.35 points to 13.80.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Metropole TV (PA:MMTP) which rose 5.25% to 18.45, Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was up 4.87% to settle at 28.42 and Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which gained 2.80% to close at 23.46.
The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 4.17% to 95.880 in late trade, Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which lost 4.04% to settle at 152.00 and Alten (PA:LTEN) which was down 3.72% to 85.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 305 to 262 and 106 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 8.49% to 12.88.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.16% or 2.00 to $1221.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.04% or 1.40 to hit $70.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.83 to trade at $75.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.1713, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8918.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 94.10.
